I have been a teacher for three years teaching middle school. I have actually used some of the strategies you mentioned in your blog such as, walking the crowed, allowing the students to talk more than I do, and catering to students' need.
However, what I found most useful, is your solution to students tapping on the table. I don't know what grade level you teach, however, middle school boys and girls just love to tap on the table, which can be quite annoying during direct instruction. I will surely try your sponge solution. Thank you! This blog receives a 10 from me!
Cindy, I like your blog. Your ideas on how to keep students from misbehaving seem subtle enough, but I think they will work. If I were teaching little kids, I might try that. Your blog post is definitely useful (10).

I like the topic that you choose and color theme. It's very informative blog. If you can put some video link or some examples, that would be great.
